Appeal to Researchers and Academicians to use ICSSR-NERC Library

The ICSSR-NERC Library was set up with an aim to help promote and encourage the Social Science research community in the country in general and North Eastern region in particular. Over the decades, we have built a strong user base and have helped many users from within the region and other parts of the country as well. We have also been able to extend our services to Research Students from other countries, like France and Spain, who were working and researching on communities in the North Eastern Region. While being appreciative of the collection that we house, they were most impressed with the location of the Centre and the Library which they claim have enabled them to have many thought-provoking ideas. The Library has a good number of books on the Social Sciences as well as a large collection of books on the North East in particular. It also has a sizeable collection on Women’s Studies, Tribal Studies and India-China Studies. Besides books, the Library also has a number of journals along with the back volumes of the journals, which the users can use for their information needs or for their research requirements. We also have Seminar Proceedings or Papers of various disciplines which the users can avail for reference. The Library till date has a total number of 20,000 volumes including the journals. The Library is also equipped with internet facility where the users can browse the OPACand check our holdings and access other online resources as well. Nestled strategically amidst the tall and majestic pines, the Centre’s Library is most conducive for scholars looking for a quiet atmosphere to study, reflect and learn while taking in the peaceful surroundings. We also have a Reprographic Centre at the premises where students/scholars can make use of the services rendered at very nominal charges. We also have a Guest House just a stone’s throw away from the Centre, where students/Scholars from outside the State looking to avail the resources of the Library can make use of. Since the Centre is located within the North-Eastern Hill University’s campus, students visiting can also make use of the NEHU Library which will further help them in their quest for information. They can also meet up and interact with the Faculty Members within the Campus which can help broaden and widen their perspective and goal.
